Kim School District RE 88 is seeking an Assistant Superintendent/Principal for the 2022-23 school year to transition into the Superintendent/Principal position for 2023-2024. This is a unique opportunity for an aspiring school district administrator to gain the experience, and/or to start/finish up on the needed administrative credentials while working with our existing superintendent.
The ideal candidate will commit to fully assume the position in 2024, and either currently has administrative credentials and/or needs the time/support to finish Colorado administrative licensure credentials.
Kim School District is a small rural district geographically isolated, located in the town of Kim, located in Southeastern Colorado, 76 miles east of Trinidad and 60 miles south of La Junta. Kim is a ranching community and is geographically isolated, and this aspect can be challenging; however, rural living and its rewards of peace and quiet, closeness to nature, and good people, make it all worthwhile.
The District is financially strong with PK-12 grades housed in a newer school building, constructed in 2015. For the 2021-22 school year, there were a total of 32 students in PK-12, 8 teachers, 7 support staff, and one administrator. Similar enrollment is expected for the 2022-23 school year. The District operates on a 4-Day school week which works very well for the community.
Kim School District is strongly supported by its community which sustains it financially while holding high expectations of academic achievement and postsecondary student success. The District encompasses vast ranch land-primarily utilized for grazing beef. Therefore, most students reside with their families on ranches within the school district.
All students experience small class sizes and abundant opportunities. Students in grades 6-12 are active in sports, FFA, FBLA, and other activities, while maintaining high academic standards.
The Board of Education is committed to sustaining and strengthening the opportunities for our students by pursuing the status of Innovation School to leverage flexibility, to yield further opportunities for our students. The individual hired for this position will partner with the current superintendent to make this a successful reality. This is an awesome opportunity for an individual or a family.
