Dear Parents/Guardians,
A lot about this school year has been unpredictable. HB-1161 created the opportunity for flexibility in Colorado Measures of Academic Success or CMAS testing. The bill proposed giving one test to grades 3rd through 8th of either English Language Arts or Mathematics and pausing (not giving) Social Studies or Science tests this year. The PSAT9, PSAT10 and SAT were not part of the bill. The Colorado Department of Education submitted a waiver to the United State Department of Education with the request to give only the tests that were named in HB-1161. The USDE granted a partial waiver to Colorado on Friday, March 26, 2021. The USDE required giving the Science test at 8th grade. Therefore grades 3, 5 and 7 will take the English Language Arts Test, grades 4 and 6 will take the Mathematics Test and grade 8 will take the Mathematics and Science tests. If you desire to have your student tested in the other areas (except Social Studies), we will make those available. Please let the district know if you’d like your student to take any or all of the optional tests. You may also call the school at 643-5295 and let the office know.
PSAT9, PSAT10 and SAT tests will be given to 9th, 10th, and 11th graders on April 14, 2021. Each test is timed differently so the each grade level will be tested in a separate room by proctors.
