Kim School continues to be dedicated to making this process as time-efficient and painless as possible.  In an effort to help students, parents, and community members become better informed, we have included the links below to information published by CDE.  Our hope is to produce informed stakeholders while preparing our students to perform to the best of their capabilities.  The preliminary testing schedule for April of 2020 is posted in files. We were only notified on 11/16/2018 that our 11th graders will not have to take the CMAS Social Studies test for this April's testing cycle.

NWEA:  District level tests that all students will take at the beginning and end of the year.  They are computer-based and standardized nationally. Content assessed includes; Math, Science, English, and Language Arts.  With Kindergarten and first grades testing in math and reading. Second-grade tests in math, reading and language and third through 11th grades test in math, reading, language, and science. NWEA fall testing will begin on Monday, August 19, 2019, and continue until completed. Spring testing will be completed during the first two weeks of May 2020 (May 4th through 12th with the following days as make-ups and only if necessary).

CMAS:  The state-level assessment that occurs in April.  These tests cover English/Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies (on a three-year rotating basis).  The majority of Kim's Educator Effectiveness--how well we are doing in the principle job of educating our children--is predicated upon these results.  All 3rd-8th Graders take these exams over a two week period. Science will be administered to all 5th, 8th, and 11th Graders, Social Studies alternates with our 4th and 7th Graders and will begin including 11th graders in the 2020 testing cycle.

PSAT: At the state-level, the Pre-SAT exam is designed for both 9th and 10th Graders, the state started giving the PSAT in 2018 in place of CMAS. It is also given in the spring. April 15, 2020, is the original testing date with make-ups on April 29th, if needed.  The results of this exam are used to prepare students for taking the SAT Exam.

SAT:  At the state-level, the Scholastic Aptitude (or Assessment) Test is designed for 11th Graders and will be taken in the spring. April 14, 2020, is the original testing date for all 11th graders across the state with April 23rd as the make-up date for all if needed.  It is primarily a test used to determine college readiness of our students.

ASVAB: May be given this year, but has not been scheduled as of yet. Is optional and given to 10th-12th graders.

Many other classroom assessments may present themselves over the course of the school year.  Kim works to limit the number and frequency of these events in order to provide a maximum focus on education exposure.
