Kim School continues to be dedicated to making this process as time-efficient and painless as possible.  In an effort to help students, parents, and community members become better informed, we have included the links below to information published by CDE.  Our hope is to produce informed stakeholders while preparing our students to perform to the best of their capabilities.  The preliminary testing schedule for Fall of 2020 is posted in the school calendar of this website.

NWEA:  District level tests that all students will take at the beginning and end of the year.  They are computer-based and standardized nationally. Content assessed includes; Math, Science, English, and Language Arts.  With Kindergarten and first grades testing in math and reading. Second-grade tests in math, reading and language and third through 11th grades test in math, reading, language, and science. NWEA fall testing will begin on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, and continue until completed. Spring testing will be completed during the first two weeks of May 2021.

CMAS:  The state-level assessment that occurs in April.  These tests cover English/Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies (on a three-year rotating basis).  The majority of Kim's Educator Effectiveness--how well we are doing in the principle job of educating our children--is predicated upon these results.  All 3rd-8th Graders take these exams over a two week period. Science will be administered to all 5th, 8th, and 11th Graders, Social Studies alternates with our 4th and 7th Graders and will begin including 11th graders in the 2021 testing cycle.

PSAT: Due to COVID-19 the Spring 2020 testing was cancelled. The PSAT10 will be given to the juniors on October 14, 2020. The make-up will be October 29, 2020 if needed. In the spring the PSAT9 and PSAT will be given to this years' freshmen and sophomores.

SAT:  Due to COVID-19 the Spring 2020 testing was cancelled. The SAT will be given to this years' seniors on September 23, 2020 with the make-up on October 27, 2020 if needed. In the spring this years' juniors will be given the SAT.

ASVAB: May be given this year, but has not been scheduled as of yet. Is optional and given to 10th-12th graders.

Many other classroom assessments may present themselves over the course of the school year.  Kim works to limit the number and frequency of these events in order to provide a maximum focus on education exposure.
